When Sound Seal’s wood panel division received a huge order for wall and ceiling panels for the North Las Vegas City Hall construction project, they knew they didn’t want to gamble with it. They chose OFS Corporation to finish the 10,000-plus square feet of wood to the exact color specifications required for this prominent location.
The wood chosen for these 
panels was anigre, a light-blonde to pinkish wood that is popular in architectural applications largely because of its staining flexibility. The light color of the anigre wood means it can be stained a wide spectrum of colors, which, according to Al Hare, founder and president of OFS, can make the job of color matching more difficult. “Anigre takes stain very well,” he said, “but our job wasn’t just to finish the wood to a nice color. Our job was to finish it to a precise color.”
OFS’s familiarity with the properties of anigre allowed them to create a stain for the job that, when applied to this chameleon-like wood surface, accurately matched what the customer wanted. OFS also fulfilled the job, carefully packaging every panel and shipping the entire order across the country to Nevada.
The new North Las Vegas City Hall is a $142 million construction project that is both highly visible and vital to the community. The installation of the wall and ceiling panels finished by OFS Corporation is anticipated to be completed by mid-summer of 2011.
