Repairing and Refinishing Classic Wooden Doors

OFS in-house shop and field team combine talents to complete project for university dormitory

Many colleges and corporations in New England and throughout the Northeast occupy historic buildings with antique décor both inside and out. The skilled craftsmen at OFS are experts in bringing aged wooden trim and doors back to their original condition.

In fact, we recently completed a dorm project for a Southern Connecticut-based university in which we repaired and refinished all of the building’s exterior oak doors.

These decorative doors (pictured above) had withstood years of environmental exposure and damage.

The OFS team sanded, filled and refinished the wood surface to remove the evidence of normal wear and tear as well the impact of outside weathering.

We also cleaned and restored the decorative iron hardware to “like new” conditions.

Also pictured in this article is a separate door restoration job to further demonstrate the difference from before to after project completion.
