Professional quality refinishing service takes time and talent to return office surfaces to their original condition. Beware of inexperienced finishers!
OFS Corp. has been in the business of repairing and refinishing wood and metallic surfaces for more than 30 years. In that time, we have seen many products evolve and equipment improve. The main thing we’ve learned from practicing the craft of finishing fine wood and metal surfaces is that quality can’t be rushed.
Touch up and surface repair tasks can be tricky business, especially when the expectation is that the fix won’t be visible to a well-trained eye, and hopefully will be invisible to the casual observer.
It can be a delicate and labor-intensive process, and that’s just the prep! Details such as grain of wood, original finish, and metallic composition are factors in the final results. This is why it’s not always wise to trust amateurs. We’ve seen many a time where an inappropriate solvent was used on a surface and left damaging marks that could have been avoided.
On occasion we use artistic paint brushes to hand paint wood grains and create depth on a repaired surface. OFS field crew are artists in their own rights – but you will not see them with large trim brushes and rollers like you would a traditional home painter.
Another misconception is that our wood and metal repair work is quick and easy. While the OFS crew does our best onsite work at night – or other times when a building is not typically in use – a great deal of time, education, and patience goes into applying our craft.
It’s all in the preparation
Often times the difference in professional results vs. novice is in the prep before spraying and staining begin. Trained OFS professionals use tape, plastic, and paper coverings to protect non-finish areas and furniture in the room. Over spray on floors and other surfaces is sign of poor craftsmanship.
The OFS team tapes everything off and uses venting with an explosion proof fan to exhaust fumes and preserve interior air quality when required.
For larger jobs we may be on site several days applying a sanding sealer, pigmented topcoats, glazing and other finishing touches. For large panels and built-in furniture we can turn a room into a field ready spray booth and still leave things better than we found them.
In the end, the actual spraying is the quick part!
Metal restorations are popular too
Scott Hare’s team is able to work wonders for stainless steel elevator maintenance, brass surfaces, door and window frames, handrails, and lobbies – Restoring metallic trim and surfaces adds real curb appeal.
For example, on a recent project for an indoor swimming facility in New Haven, CT, the OFS metal field crew addressed oxidation, stainless steel, and metallic mirrored surfaces and returned shine and luster to the building’s door frames and metallic surfaces.
Whether dealing with metal scratches or scuffs – the guys were able to blend, buff, and apply the proper solvents. Remember, improper solvents can cause irreparable stains or damage.
However, with OFS handling each job properly, everything ends up looking like new!
