Project Description:

The goal of this project was to upgrade the existing metal surfaces by enhancing the current & existing finishes. OFS technicians performed restoration work on oxidized bronze, anodized aluminum, and satin brass. Anodized aluminum surfaces were cleaned and coated for protection, oxidized bronze was cleaned, touched-up, and coated for protection, and satin brass was completely refinished.

Scope: Bronze & Aluminum Restoration

Material Details: Exterior Metal
Coatings

Timeline: 3 Weeks

Industry: Commercial / Property
Maintenance

An Inside Scoop:
Over time, raw and exposed bronze/
brass react with oxygen & pollution in
the air, causing the surfaces to oxidize
and tarnish. Using a process called
chelation, the zinc & copper ions are
captured and turned into a liquid form,
then wiped away, preserving the
detailed brass/bronze underneath.
Using this technique, the delicate
surfaces are spared from any scratching
and aggressive abrasion
