Dedicated to Making Office Space Look Its Best

OFS Corp Announcements

Since 1987 OFS has been providing high-quality wood finishing in Southern New England

After our humble beginnings as an onsite furniture restoration provider operating from our 1,500sq. ft. office in Manchester, CT, OFS has consistently refined, improved and expanded our professional business services to include corporate level refinishing of all fine wood surfaces, elevators, and both interior and exterior architectural metal facades and trim.

In the last 3 decades we have grown to upwards of 25 full-time employees – we have a reliable fleet of service vehicles, 2 state-of-the-art spray booths with ventilation and professional-grade air makeup systems – and we now operate out of two buildings totaling 8,500sq. ft., in South Windsor, CT.

But it hasn’t stopped there. Over the last 5-year period, our biggest change has been in the area of “historic” wood restoration and maintenance. In Connecticut and throughout New England there are a wide range of historically significant buildings. From Ivy League Universities and college campuses, to government buildings that date back throughout history.

This specialized field of restoration requires the complete OFS skill set. From color blending on original woodwork to color matching modern wood finishes to “fit” the look, style and tone of a building’s original wood finishes and decorative fixtures.

In some instances, we are handling “selective” repair, for instance, the customer may want a wood surface to look new, while not “erasing” the spot where a young, pre-presidential JFK scratched his initials.

We asked OFS president and founder, Al Hare, about some of the business wisdom he has collected over
the last 30 years:

Question: What has been a key to success in your industry?

Al: Honestly, it sounds cliché, but doing what we say we’re going to do, when we say we’ll do it.

Many times, I meet company leaders and building managers who are not pleased with their vendor – Complaints that a vendor is not responsive, not proactive.

Our approach – Give a fairly “simple” proposal, then work out a schedule that is best for the client’s building and particular situation.

Q: How have your services changed since OFS first opened its doors?

A: Metal restoration and maintenance has grown significantly as a new service for us in the last decade. And clients are really seeing the value of regular maintenance as a huge cost savings over letting metallic surfaces deteriorate and then paying for total restoration.

Scott (Hare) has done a tremendous job running the team, maintaining a schedule board, and then proactively reminding clients when it’s time.

Q: What is something that has changed in OFS as a company in the last 30 years?

A: Really and truly knowing our business – and understanding the needs of our customers.

When we first started the business, we sometimes took on jobs because we didn’t know when the next opportunity would come along – not because the job was the right fit for us.

With years of experience, OFS is able to “upgrade” and restore existing materials and surfaces to blend with updated and more modern surroundings.

Over the years, we have developed the team and the proper training to offer a very high-end service at a fair price. Some things you can only learn through experience.

OFS has the experience now to be at the pinnacle of our field.

I’m proud and thankful for what we’ve accomplished. Quality service to our customers has always been a top priority, and it’s made all the difference.
